Liberty Township – The Township of Liberty and Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department are pleased to announce the successful groundbreaking of a new, modern fire station and township government office. The ceremony, held on October 10, 2025, marks a major public safety milestone for the community. The $4.5 million project is fully funded by the residents of Liberty Township.

The new station will replace a 70-year-old facility that has served the residents and visitors of Liberty and Jackson Townships and surrounding area. Over the years, Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department has responded to an increasing number of calls for service and has outgrown its current building. This new facility will improve emergency response capabilities, enhance operational efficiency, and create a safer, more functional workspace for volunteers.

“Today we build for tomorrow — a new fire station ready to protect and serve for generations to come, said Matt Keiser, Liberty Township Trustee. The excitement is real as we strengthen safety for every resident who calls our community home.”

The new building is designed to meet the needs of modern fire apparatus and includes apparatus bays designed for improved response, sleeping quarters, a meeting/training room, administrative space, and updated infrastructure, all within a total footprint of 15,208 square feet. The project also includes dedicated space for township government operations, helping ensure that township business is conducted efficiently and accessibly for residents.

“This groundbreaking ceremony marks a major milestone for fire and emergency response,” said Nicholas Wineland, Corporation President. “For over 70 years, a fire station built entirely by the firefighters and residents will not be forgotten but will transition onto a new foundation behind the current building.”

Construction is now underway, with an anticipated completion date of October 2026.

The Township of Liberty and Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the residents, government officials, partners, and all those who have helped shape the future of public safety and community service in Liberty Township.
