What is Smart911?

Smart911 is a free, nationally recognized service that allows individuals and families to create a secure Safety Profile that provides vital information to 9-1-1 call takers and emergency responders during a crisis. When you call 9-1-1 from a phone registered with your Smart911 profile, the information you provide—such as your home address, medical conditions, family members, emergency contacts, and even pet details—can be shared with dispatchers to help them respond faster and more effectively.

Locally Branded as Alert Porter County

In Porter County, Smart911 is also known as Alert Porter County. When you sign up, you’re not only creating a Safety Profile for 9-1-1 emergencies—you’ll also receive real-time community alerts, including severe weather warnings, evacuation notices, road closures, and other critical public safety information.
