Find Your Role: Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department Opportunities
Choose the path that matches your skills and interests — we’ll provide the training, equipment, and support to help you succeed.
Firefighter
Be on the front lines, protecting life and property in times of crisis. Firefighters complete the District 1 Fire Academy for state certifications in Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations and Firefighter I/II, along with all state-mandated curriculum. Training includes classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and live-fire scenarios.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Provide critical pre-hospital care to patients during emergencies. The department covers the cost of EMT certification for eligible members who commit to active service and remain in good standing. EMTs respond to medical calls, support fireground rehab, and ensure both the public and our own personnel receive necessary care.
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Play a key role in providing immediate care at emergency scenes. EMRs assist EMTs, support fireground rehab, and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on scene. The department pays for EMR certification under the same conditions as EMTs.
Emergency Response Support (ERS)
Support operations without entering IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) environments. ERS members receive training similar to firefighters but focus on exterior support roles, equipment handling, and logistical assistance during incidents.
Service Support (Admin Roles)
Keep the department running smoothly through essential behind-the-scenes work. Service Support members assist with administration, fundraising, event coordination, and other operational needs. Your organizational skills and dedication directly contribute to the department’s ability to serve.
